Day 2: Little Rock, AR to Amarillo, TX

We woke up today around 6:00 am to try and get an early start.  My goal going into the trip is to try and make it to the hotel each day with some time to just relax and give Mo plenty of time to run around the hotel room each night before we go to bed.  We get ready and start to load the car around 7:30 to hit the road.  I mentioned the heat here in Arkansas... well, it was almost 90 degrees at 7:30 in the morning! Ridiculous!

At this point, we are ready to get out of Arkansas, and as we merge back onto I-40, we can not wait to see the "Welcome to Oklahoma" sign.  However, I must say, the western part of Arkansas, especially the Ozarks, are very scenic.  Still, we were excited to make it into Oklahoma.

We saw lots of dead armadillos on the side of the road... apparently that is the possum of the Midwest.  Oklahoma wasn't exactly like I expected it to be.  Very pretty countryside, plus we got to see some fields with wind turbines, some oil rigs, and Oklahoma City was much bigger than I expected.

We made it into Texas, and again, the panhandle of Texas is beautiful in its own unique way.  It amazes me how God can create each place so different, yet still so beautiful.  We made very good time today.  Mo even was able to sit in my lap as I drove.

We pulled into Amarillo (after almost running out of gas about 15 miles from the hotel) just a little before 5 local time. We played with Mo, Megan registered for her classes online, and I went to pick up dinner from Texas Roadhouse.  Delicious!  Perfect meal to end a good day of driving.  Plus, the wireless internet actually works here in Amarillo, thus the updates!  Tomorrow I'm looking forward to another scenic ride, as I hear New Mexico is beautiful.  Hope everything goes as smoothly as it has the first two days.

We miss everyone and want to thank all those who continue to pray for us on this journey!  Keep them coming!
