(This is a continuation from the previous post)
Monday, August 2nd
We wake up early to try to finish the last few things left to do. We had been told that the movers would be there sometime between 10 am and 1 pm. We scurry around doing last minute errands and packing trying to have everything ready for 10 o'clock. 10:00 rolls around and we are ready, but the movers don't come until noon. Things just have that feeling of not going as well as you would like, but also nothing went terribly wrong. The loading of our stuff went pretty quickly and smoothly, except we suspect one of our boxes of glasses may have been broken... update on that whenever our shipment arrives. The movers finished loading all of our stuff around 2 pm, at which time we had planned to finish a last couple of errands and head to Greenville for dinner with my parents, Haley, and Jay and then to spend the night there before we hit the road. One problem, the movers forget to bring the two wardrobe boxes we had ordered, so we had to wait on them to bring them back. The boxes finally arrived a little after 7 pm, and after quickly loading them, we hopped in the car and headed for Greenville.
One of the things we did while we were waiting, besides hang out with the youth, was run to Wal-Mart to pick up Megan's prescription. This story kind of epitomizes our day... not the best, but could have been much worse. As we were pulling into the parking lot, a giant yellow jacket comes shooting out of our air vent into the car. Freaking out, I hit the brakes, and Megan goes bailing from the car. Surprisingly, I was able to keep calm enough to send the yellow jacket to meet Jesus.
We finally arrived in Greenville around 8:30, and I wish I had more time with my parents and with Haley before we left. However, instead of hoping and wishing for more time, I am going to remember fondly the time we did get to spend with them and with everyone else that is close to us in the days leading up to the move. We headed to bed with a lot of anxiety, excitement, and not necessarily the fear of the unknown, but just the unknown. But don't worry, we got right to sleep because we were EXHAUSTED!
